Who we are
We are a Community Based Organisation that reaches
out to orphaned and vulnerable children. Imana
Initiative was founded and registered in Kenya by
Leah Wanja in 2010. When it was started, Leah wanted
to share the love of God with young ladies by donating
sanitary towels to them. However, the organisation has
grown and thus expanded its programs to reach out
even to the orphaned and vulnerable children.
A Kenya where every marginalized child lives
purposefully and attains their full potential.
To empower, educate and transform through
mentorship the Kenyan marginalized child.
What we do
We have two mentorship programs; Nyota Program for
the girls and Daraja Program for the boys. The
programs are both 8 weeks long and we use them in
high school outreaches.
Under this program we also offer counselling, medical
help and life coaching to teenagers struggling with
issues such as drugs or addictions. Some of the children
we have walked with have been involved with
prostitution, early pregnancy, homelessness and being
abandoned. We rally volunteers to walk with these
We offer education scholarships for girls who come
from vulnerable and underprivileged backgrounds.
Donation of Sanitary towels
We also donate sanitary towels and panties to girls in marginalized areas and teach them basic on reproductive health.
In the last 5 years of Imana Initiative’s existence under our programs, we have managed to reach out to:
9,787 girls and 5,670 boys within Kenya. We have also been able to reach out to 120 schools.
Under this program, we have educated 15 girls and 2 boys in partial and full scholarships.
